“Too often, candidates plant seeds of discontent, creating problems so they can “fix” what isn’t broken. The truth is, Hanover Park delivers a well-rounded education, and our students benefit from strong academics, competitive athletic opportunities, and a wide range of extracurricular activities.”

Florham Park Eagle, October 2022

“Vote for experience, not ideology, and re-elect Joanne Greene Tobias to the Hanover Park Board of Education.”

My name is Joanne Greene Tobias, and I am running for re-election as Florham Park's representative to the Hanover Park Regional High School District Board of Education. For the past nine years, I have had the honor of serving on the Board and representing the students, parents, and staff of this outstanding school district. I am seeking re-election because while I am proud of our Board's work and leadership, there is still more we can accomplish together.

Supporting Our Facilities and Athletics

I was privileged to serve during the completion of the athletic complex at Hanover Park High School, and I have consistently supported the ongoing upgrades and improvements to our sports facilities. Thanks to Florham Park residents' overwhelming support of the 2022 Facility Improvement Plan Referendum, Hanover Park High School is now undergoing multi-million-dollar renovations that will further enhance safety and learning on our unique California-style campus.

Supporting our students both in the classroom and on the field is essential. As a former high school athlete who participated in softball, varsity swimming, and cheerleading, and later as an educator who coached diving, swimming, and girls' basketball, I understand firsthand how athletics builds the character traits essential for success in life. I have always championed our athletic programs and will continue to do so when re-elected on November 4th.

Committed to Academic Excellence

Providing state-of-the-art curriculum for all students is vital as they prepare for college, vocational training, military service, or any other career path they choose. Hanover Park Regional High School District offers robust, high-quality curricular programs. I am proud to have not only served on the Board's Curriculum Committee but also chaired it, making it my priority to listen to the needs of students, teachers, and administrators.

Our students benefit from a Board of Education, administration, teachers, and parents who strongly support involvement in extracurricular and co-curricular activities. Our academic teams consistently win top honors, while our marching band, choir, and madrigals achieve the same level of excellence. Keeping students engaged in these diverse activities strengthens their connections with peers across all grade levels.

Vote for Experience. Vote for Transparency. Vote for Results.
Re-elect Joanne Greene Tobias on November 4th.

“Voters want to have faith in the people they elect to public office. Board members must understand their role, responsibilities and honor their Code of Ethics and Conduct.”

My Commitment to You

I promise parents, students, and staff that I will work to ensure Hanover Park High School remains a top-performing school in every area. While these are challenging times, I know that with your support, I can continue representing our students with the same strong values and ideals you have instilled in them. This is what you should expect from me, and what I expect of myself.

Promoting Transparency and Community Engagement

At my recommendation, the Hanover Park Board of Education now holds open, public work sessions before regular Board meetings. This practice enhances collaboration, communication, and transparency between the Board, parents, staff, students, and the community. These sessions build public trust and lead to better-informed decisions.

Transparency and public trust in elected officials are essential. When the League of Women Voters invited both candidates to participate in a forum where residents could ask relevant questions, I readily accepted. Unfortunately, my opponent declined this opportunity for voters to make an informed decision about their Board representation.

Similarly, Vote411, a nationally recognized organization, contacted both candidates to answer basic questions about our candidacy, including our reasons for running, relevant experience, and positions on key issues. My responses can be found on Vote411.org.
